Setup
In order for SMS Blasts to function, the Mobile Number form component must be added to the registration form.
Without this, there's no way for Attendease to know what the customer's number is.
Creating an SMS Blast
Go to Messaging > General > Messages
Select New Blast in the upper right
Select SMS from the blast type icons
Click the Create Blast button in the bottom right
Message Title
This field is for the blast list inside Attendease, customers will never see the Message Title. Use this to keep track of your blasts and organise them internally.
Body
This is the content of the text message. Note the 140 character limit outside the lower right corner of the Body box. Your message won't be stopped at 140 characters, but anything over 140 will be split into a second message.
Recipients
Select which recipients will receive the SMS blast on the "Recipients" tab. You can add recipients by matching them to a specific criteria, by uploading a CSV file, using a Contact List, manually adding individual recipients, or using our Marketo Integration.
Click the "Save" button to save any changes.
Depending on which type you select, instructions will appear on screen.
Attendee matching will target specific groups like Registered Attendees or only attendees that have checked in.
Click the Enable button to see the 'Matching the following:" drop-down for your options.
To upload a CSV please see our article on uploads.
In addition to the information there, a 4th column "Mobile Number" must be added and that must contain the customer's mobile number including the country code.
Contact Lists also require some setup so, please see our article covering that feature if you have access to it.
Delivery
Just like our email blasts, text blasts can be configured to be delivered in future or immediately. See the delivery section here.
Important Notes
There is a cost per message sent. These terms will be included in your Attendease subscription agreement.
If you create a custom field to collect Mobile Numbers it must be optional in order to comply with US and EU regulations.
